An Afternoon with 'boot' Düsseldorf

On Monday, 1 December 2025, our British Superyacht CEO, Richard Selby had the immense pleasure of attending a superb gathering at the venerable Royal Thames Yacht Club in London. The event served as a wonderful celebration and prelude to the forthcoming 'boot' Düsseldorf boat show, the world's premier 'indoor' marine leisure exhibition, taking place in January 2026. We extend our sincere gratitude to the entire team from boot Düsseldorf for their exceptional presentation and the delightful luncheon.

A Meeting of Marine Minds

The presentation offered a fantastic preview of the scope and scale of what awaits us in January. More importantly, it was a valuable opportunity to forge stronger connections across the marine leisure and superyacht sector. It was an honour to meet with Petros Michelidakis, the esteemed Director of boot Düsseldorf, and his dedicated team. His insights into the future of the show, focusing on client capture, engagement and retention, were truly compelling.

The event’s success was amplified by the presence of key figures and representatives from leading British and international organisations. We were delighted to be joined by delegates from iconic names such as Sunseeker and Princess Yachts, companies that consistently showcase the finest in British luxury yacht building on the global stage. Also in attendance were crucial media and industry partners, including representatives from IBI (International Boat Industry) and Marine Industry News. Such gatherings—bringing together builders, associations, media, and show organisers—are vital for ensuring cohesion and shared success across the sector.

Previewing the World’s Largest Indoor Marine Leisure Show

The presentation provided a timely reminder of why boot Düsseldorf is a non-negotiable event on the annual calendar. Taking place from 17 to 25 January 2026, the show is not merely an exhibition; it is the world's largest indoor marine leisure show, a colossal marketplace and a hub for innovation. Spanning an incredible 16 exhibition halls, boot Düsseldorf hosts over 1,500 exhibitors from 67 nations, drawing more than 200,000 visitors from around the globe.

The scale is breathtaking. Whether your interest lies in the highest echelons of super yachting or the most adventurous water sports, boot has it covered. The exhibition features a comprehensive range, from dinghies and sailing yachts up to the most magnificent luxury yachts. British Superyacht members, in particular, will find Halls dedicated to SuperYachts and Equipment & Accessories critical for sourcing new partners and showcasing British expertise.

Beyond the hardware, the show places a strong focus on the future of marine leisure. Visitors can explore vibrant themed areas covering Diving, Surf Sports, Paddling, and Maritime Art, offering interactive experiences and the latest gear. For the superyacht community and trade professionals, the blue innovation dock stands out as an essential feature. This platform brings together visionaries, investors, and policymakers, addressing the crucial topics of sustainability and future-proofing the maritime industry. Additionally, prestigious events like the "ocean tribute" Award underscore the show's commitment to ocean protection.

The energy and sheer scope of the 2026 show promise an unmissable nine days of business, networking, and celebration of the aquatic world.

Stronger Together in Leading the Industry

The warmth and professionalism demonstrated by the boot Düsseldorf team have made us even more eager for January where British Superyacht will, once again, host a 'members soiree' during the show.

We encourage all our members and industry colleagues to finalise their plans for the show—it is where the industry connects, innovates, and grows. Thank you once again to Petros Michelidakis and his team for coming to London and sharing their excitement. We look forward to seeing everyone in Düsseldorf to continue to uphold the standard of excellence in our industry.
